The unveiling ceremony of the Institute of Organic Optoelectronics, which was jointly established by Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI), the Wujiang Government of Suzhou and Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee and his team from FUNSOM, Soochow University, was successfully held in Foho on 17th October. It is significant for the Wujiang Government to promote the collaborative innovation of the government, enterprise, university and scientific research organization.
The ceremony was witnessed and unveiled by the representatives from JITRI, Wujiang Government of Suzhou and Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee’s team, which includes Yi-Dong Hu, vice president of JITRI, Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee, the director of the Institute, Yi-Bo Liang, secretary of the Wujiang District Party Committee, and Prof. Liang-Sheng Liao, the executive director of the Institute. Jian-Xin Tang, deputy director of 2011-plan office and professor of Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM), Soochow University, presided over the ceremony.
Prof. Liang-Sheng Liao stressed that the establishment of the Institute is owing to the support from JITRI and the local government and the contribution of all the staff in the Institute. It aims to establish a testing center in the field of organic optoelectronics and a R&D base to develop key technologies on organic optoelectronic materials, vacuum evaporation equipment and OLED panels. In this respect, the Institute strives to create an international platform that aggregates top talents, leading technologies and high-tech enterprises. The Institute welcome all the talents and teams who is willing to cooperate with us and promote the innovation and development of the industries of organic optoelectronics in China.
Ming Li, the member of the Standing Committee of the Wujiang District Committee of CPC and the Secretary of the Party and Labor Union of FOHO High-tech Zone, pointed out that the successful establishment of the Institute is a strategic choice for JITRI and Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee and his team to aim at the prospects of the application in organic optoelectronics; it is also a significant achievement for FOHO to aggregate innovative resources, nurture emerging industries and enhance competitive strength. The Institute is aiming to aggregate global renowned elites and technologies, accelerate the cultivation and incubation of innovative enterprises in the field of organic optoelectronics and strive to create an international platform that aggregates top talents, leading technologies and high-tech enterprises.
Yi-Dong Hu, vice president of JITRI, strengthened that JITRI is targeted to lead the development of the industry and serve for the innovation of the enterprises; while the Institute (IOO) aims to lead the industrialization of the technologies of organic optoelectronics. He remarked that three core functions of the Institute lies in continuously developing core technologies, rapidly incubating enterprises and serving for small and medium-sized enterprises in the industry. Finally, Hu stressed that the unveiling ceremony is just a beginning for the Institute. He believes that the beginning today certainly marks a bright future.
